Highlights of the PTA

Highlights of the PTA include:

Quarterly Parent meetings – Every 3 months, the third Thursday of the month. Come learn about a topic of interest to parents and/or educators, hear about the issues facing our school, and learn about upcoming events.

Back-to School Breakfast ~ September
All parents and students are invited to join the faculty and staff for a light breakfast of muffins, bagels, fruit, and juice in the school cafeteria the first Friday of the opening week. It is the first opportunity for new families to gather and make new friends. Breakfast begins at 7:30am and runs until the 8:20am bell. Students will go to their classes and the adults may stay until 9:00am.

Wine & Cheese Reception ~ September (adults only). This event is immediately following the first General PTA meeting of the school year. New families and their mentor families gather in the cafeteria for some light refreshment and socializing.

Back-to-School Parish BBQ & Bonfire ~ September. A family event held the last weekend in September to ring in the school year and meet other families and parishioners of St. Rose of Lima. There will be bouncy houses, children’s games, and food for all to enjoy in the safety of the St. Rose grounds.

Mother-Son Event – October Previous events have included minor league baseball, bowling, and mini-golf. This year, get ready for a mom-son nerf football game!

Trunk or Treat ~ October. Families will be invited to do a Halloween style tail-gate event on the grounds of Rose Bud Academy preschool. Families decorate their car trucks and give out treats to the children.

St. Rose Annual Christmas Bazaar ~ November. After 93 years, this remains our single largest fundraiser of the year. It is open to the public from 10am to 8pm. The cafeteria turns into a full-service restaurant and the school gym becomes a market place filled with Christmas gifts, crafts, baked goods, candy, and collectibles. The kids can visit with Santa, get their pictures taken, do crafts, etc. There are hundreds of prizes to be won, from a HD flat screen TV, 50/50 drawings, and raffle baskets at our Tombola. It’s a fun activity that needs lots of volunteers to make it a success.

Christmas tree lighting and caroling – December. Join us to celebrate the beginning of the advent season with hot chocolate, singing, and the lighting of our School Christmas tree.

Catholic School’s Week Celebrations ~ January / February

Opening Celebration at Mass on Sunday
Breakfast at School on Monday
Ice Cream Social on Tuesday
Service Project Day on Wednesday
Roller Skating Party on Thursday
Grade 8 vs. Faculty Volleyball Game (Students Only) on Friday
Pasta Dinner on Saturday

Father/ Daughter Dance ~ February. A great way to make a memory! This event returned last year after a brief absence and was an immediate success. Open to girls in Kindergarten through grade 8 and their fathers (or special guest) are invited to dance in the decorated school cafeteria. Music, crafts, light refreshments, and a commemorative picture are all part of the evenings activities.

Poker Night – March. During the exciting last week of the March Madness season, parents are invited to come together for an evening of poker and basketball in the gym and cafeteria. It’s a great fundraiser and a lot of fun!

Bag Bingo-April. The sixth annual Bag Bingo event is a ladies only event. A catered dinner will be served. Multiple designer hand bags will be offered as prizes. Everyone is encouraged to bring family and friends to enjoy this really fun night.

Fish Fry (Tenative) ~ Lent. A Lenten Tradition that occurs the Friday after Ash Wednesday. Eat-in or Take Out. Pizza is also available. Then enjoy St. Rose student basketball games up in the gym.

Golf Outing ~ Spring. A day out on the course with lunch, prizes, and dinner included. If you don’t play, you or your place of employment might want to sponsor a hole.

Laps for Learning ~ May. Laps for Learning is one of the other major fundraisers of the year and is always a great day for the children. Students acquire sponsors that support their walk or run around the school property. There is music, water, and pretzels during the walk/run and ice cream to top off the day. Students write personal letters to family and friends in support of this event and are directly involved in the actual fundraising experience. The money raised at this event help with the cost of some child-focused initiative in the school, such as technology, school-wide programs, or recess equipment.

Falcon 5k – June. The second annual falcon 5K will take place in the morning on the second Saturday of June. Bagels, juice, water and lots of prizes will be shared after the event. The first year was a huge hit for all the families who participated, and we can’t wait to see what runners emerge in year two.

Pool Party ~ Last Day of School. This fun event closes out the school year. It is a fun-filled afternoon at a local pool for all St. Rose school families. It’s a great way to begin the summer months.
